THE MAGIC OF MUSIC

Ephesian 5: 19 “ Sing praises in your heart to the Lord.”

On the fifth day of creation, God in Hid infinite goodness and the gladness of Hi heart created the birds and other creatures that through their sound could create music. I personally presume that the first sound of music came from the chirping of the birds, the bussing of the bees, and the rustling of the leaves as they are touched by the gentle wind and the breeze. During biblical times, music was the highest form of worship. People spoke to God through music that came from the harps, lyres, drums and cymbals. Today, in all churches that I had the privilege to attend services in, have worship teams that say praises at the start of every service. David’s psalm all speak of music comes from so many instruments like piano, violin, cello, guitars, trumpets, flutes and many more. All were invented and cost so much fortune as much as they bathe the soul with mirth, joy and gladness. Solitude becomes a blessing as it enhances the beauty of music. I have an awesome envy on people with great musical talents that while I have nil knowledge of musical notes, I have been gifted with keen ears and discerning sense for it. My day isn’t complete without playing my great collection of soul searching and nourishing music and songs. I feel that each music that I listen to, calms me and serves as a sweet balsam to my weary soul. Our voices are music to God’s ears and He loves listening to each word that we lift up to Him in our songs. Every prayer and every desire of our heart that lifted up to Him in songs are sweet aroma that gladdens Him. Try to experience the beauty of music in your solitude and in the open and free spaces of nature around you. Find a beautiful place along the beach or by the river bank amidst the trees and flower gardens over looking a hill or a mountain and offer yourself in total surrender to commune with the Lord. Close your eyes and feel the gentle wind as it touches the rushing waves; there is a deep sound that makes the heart goes faster. Listen to the birds chirping and shout “I love you” and be keen in listening to the echo that says the same. And as you make a dip in the cool water, bathe your soul to Jesus reassuring words of “ I love you, and will never forsake you nor abandon you.”
